Travel to the British Virgin Islands using your taste buds. The Painkiller is a classic cocktail— take a sip and start dreaming!
A “dollar bar” isn’t exactly where you might expect an iconic cocktail to be created, but that happens to be the case for the infamous “Painkiller.” The cocktail was first created by Daphne Henderson at the Soggy Dollar Bar in the British Virgin Islands back in the 1970s. The founder of Pusser’s rum, Charles Tobias, was friends with Daphne and wanted the cocktail recipe, but Daphne kept it a secret. Charles eventually recreated one of her concoctions, named it the Painkiller, and trademarked it. To this day, Charles has protected the recipe and has even taken well-known New York bars and bartenders to court. Clearly, the concoction must be something special!
Take a sip and start dreaming about the British Virgin Islands which are just as unique and special as the cocktail they’re home to.
