Fondly consumed as a dessert drink, the classic chocolate martini was created in America in 1955. The drink came to fruition when Hollywood stars and friends, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson were filming Giant in Marfa, Texas. Both were chocolate lovers as well as martini lovers and, incidentally, created the chocolate martini (or chocolatini) by mixing chocolate syrup and chocolate liqueur with a vodka martini. The drink gained popularity across The States rapidly and, thereafter, the world.
