Cheers from Ireland

Travel to Ireland using your taste buds.  Take a sip and start dreaming!

Step 1: Copy this text to your clipboard.

Although not created in Ireland, this sweet cocktail takes center stage on St. Patrick’s Day for the drinkers who’d rather stray away from a green beer. The Irish Grasshopper is said to have been created in New Orleans in 1918 at a bar named Tujague’s, but after further inspection, it’s more likely the cocktail was created a decade prior. The Irish Grasshopper has “ancestry” that dates back to 1908 when a cocktail by the name of “The Grasshopper,” and with similar ingredients, was featured in The World’s Drinks and How to Mix Them by William “Cocktail” Boothby. It isn’t uncommon for New Orleans to claim fame to a cocktail’s origin, but even if their claim isn’t true, we can’t deny that the city helped popularize this super sweet, minty green concoction.

Take a sip, celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and start dreaming of Ireland. When the time is right, we’ll help you plan a trip in person!
